The Adblue doesn’t need to be replaced, only topped off. Anyone looking to save money can find compatible adblue at their local napa or uap parts store, and refill the adblue for Much much less.

The Adblue systems have their benefits, noX storage systems like those used in the RAM 1500 and 2500, or vw jetta tdi tend to rob the engine of it’s fuel efficiency, SCR systems allow manufacturers to tune the engine with the best economy and power, and allow the exhaust system to scrub the emissions clean, where with the NoX storeage, the noX emissions have to be reduced significantly in combustion and that is done by handicapping the engine.

SCR systems really are superior from a power/fuel efficiency standpoint and if you do your own top ups, will hardly affect the over all cost to run.
