2012 NAIAS: BMW 3-Series

January 10th, 2012

2013 BMW 3-Series

BMW’s big unveiling in 2011 was for the North American debut of a car that many wanted to purchase but that BMW refused to produce in sufficient volume. Rather than taunt the media this year with the 1M coupe as it did last year, BMW chose to show off the newest variation on its mainstay volume seller 3-series.
The latest member to join the 3-series lineup is the full hybrid sedan, featuring a six cylinder gas engine and electric drive. Dubbed officially as the ActiveHybrid 3, this sedan retains its sporting intentions by offering 335 hp while achieving 37 mpg on the highway. Integrating with the car’s Intelligent Navigation System will allow a driver to achieve all electric driving in the last miles of their journey. The ActiveHybrid 3 is expected to go on sale in the fall with no word yet on pricing.
