2004 F-250 Super Duty King Ranch

Oh, If Only My Office Chair Had A Hide This Nice

As you are reading this 2005 Super Dutys are arriving on dealer lots and hitting the roads. However, we got the impression that there were enough diehards out there in favor of the old trucks that we figured we would give ‘er a final go round. Not to mention there are plenty of 04’s still on the lot ready to be put to work. So keep reading, because this truck is a workaholic and there is always another tree that needs pulled, or a horse trailer needing hauled.

2005 Ford Super Duty (Preview)

February 8th, 2010 No comments

News has finally broken on the revised 2005 Ford Super Duty pickups and we can now shed some light on what Ford has in store for us. Since we have been receiving so much mail about the spy shots we took back in November, we are taking this opportunity to answer some of your questions now that the trucks have broken cover. 2004 Toyota Tundra

Hear that nervous clattering noise coming from the North? That’s the sound of Detroit shaking in its old, worn-out boots.
After watching the Japanese steal sales year after year in the small, midsize, and luxury car markets, the folks in northern Michigan are surely biting their fingernails at the thought of Japan swooping in for another conquest. This time, though, the fight will be over the mainstay of all-American transportation — the full-size truck.

2004 Chevrolet Colorado

February 4th, 2010 No comments

After driving some revolutionary full-size trucks this year — fantastic trucks like the new Ford F-150 and Nissan Titan — I had high hopes for the next-generation midsize truck from Chevrolet.
Those big trucks raised the bar for comfort and refinement in a pickup, making them drive more like cars without sacrificing truly heavy-duty performance. Is it unreasonable, then, to want the same thing in a smaller pickup? Read more…

2004 Nissan Titan

When you grow up in rural East Texas, you know what loyalty is. It’s what a man feels for his pickup truck.
As a boy, it wasn’t uncommon for me to hear someone say, “My daddy drove a Ford ’til he died, and I’m gonna drive a Ford ’til I die,” or some variation with either Dodge or Chevy. Texas men are more devoted to their trucks than to their wives. Read more…

2004 Dodge Dakota

For a guy who grew up in Texas, I’m an oddball. I don’t like trucks.
It seems like pickups are divided into two distinct categories, neither of which tickle my automotive fancy. The first is the giant, full-size truck that can tow just about anything and drive just about anywhere, which is great for those weekends when you need the power and cargo space that only these brutes can offer. Only problem is having to drive them the rest of the week, which means spending a fortune in gas and barely squeezing into parking spots at the SuperMart. Read more…

2004 Ford F-150 Lariat

The Best Gets Even Better

Alas, our number finally came up for a chance to have a go at the latest edition of Ford’s top seller, the F-150. Upon taking delivery of our well broken in pre-production model Lariat SuperCrew 4×4 we promptly declared that this truck was huge and got the most obvious part of our evaluation done. Greenies, tree huggers, environmental wackos and otherwise small car weenies need not continue reading. Read more…

2003 Cadillac Escalade EXT

June 30th, 2003 No comments

Imagine, if you will, stepping back to 1982 — the year when headbands became high fashion, “E.T.” was a box-office hit and “Bette Davis Eyes” won a Grammy — when someone proclaims, “Cadillac will build a pickup truck in 20 years, and people will love it!” Read more…

2002 Dodge Ram

Refinement isn’t something trucks are known for. They’re meant for hauling, towing and getting dirty, not for impressing executives with frilly features and tight-fitting interior panels. Read more…

2002 Mazda Truck

April 14th, 2002 No comments

How’s this for a no-nonsense name: the Mazda Truck.

Mazda stopped naming its pickups the B-series this year, instead opting for the strangely simple “Truck” moniker. It’s a straightforward, surprisingly plain and almost cool approach — just like the truck itself.
