Dodge Announces 2011 Pricing

November 4th, 2010 No comments

It’s no secret that Chrysler is playing catch up this year and rolling out plenty in terms of product refinement and refreshment. The latest batch of information goodness we have to share comes in the form of the pricing strategy on the new-for-2011 Dodge lineup. We were going to make mention of this in PODCAST Episode 13, but frankly we found that announcing a whole bunch of figures over the air just amounts to baffled expresions and silly blunderous commentary. So here is a post dedicated to the sole advancement of showroom knowledge. Oh, we’ve also included photo galleries of all the new sheetmetal, from the all-new Durango to the drag-strip-ready Challenger SRT8 392, for your view pleasure. Enjoy! Read more…

2011 Dodge Grand Caravan (Preview)

October 28th, 2010 No comments

Well, that didn’t take long. Less than 48 hours after nabbing some shots of a caravan of Grand Caravans out for a shakedown cruise, Dodge proliferated the cybernets with specs and glamor photos of its latest family hauler. Curiously, Dodge contracted a man (and only a man) and his surfboard for these photos. Sport van? Someone tried that one already. Man van?   Read more…

2011 Dodge Avenger (Preview)

October 28th, 2010 No comments

If you think the 2011 Dodge Avenger looks a lot like the 2010 model, you are mostly correct. Aside from a new split-crosshair grille and lower fascia, the exterior visage is essentially the same. But with this Avenger, Dodge was a little more concerned about your driving experience. 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan (Spy Shots)

October 26th, 2010 No comments

Chrysler has yet to release the details on the 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan, but it would appear they aren’t too concerned about them being seen. Now, as you can see from these pictures, camouflage wouldn’t hide much more than new tail lamps, headlamps, and a front fascia and grille. Still, no official press release usually means no uncovering of the goods. Apparently this caravan of Grand Caravans didn’t get that memo. What we can’t see is what is under the hood and all our money is riding on the new 3.6L V6, which it will share with the Town & Country, as well as most of Chrysler’s refreshed lineup. Now we just need to spot the the Grand Caravan and the Town & Country’s German-engineered counterpart (the Volkswagen Routan) and the set will be complete. Click through to see the rest of the pictures we nabbed! Read more…

Automotive Trends PODCAST Episode 12

October 23rd, 2010 No comments

Twelve makes a dozen, and while we aren’t serving up a box of donuts here, your favorite trio of trouble are back behind the mics to discuss the very latest in autodom. Can your car run on E15 without a hiccup? Will the Chrysler 200 be little more than last year’s Sebring with new headlights? Just how much did Hyundai price its potent turbocharged Sonata for? Where did we leave the key to the Nissan Versa? The answers to these questions and more are just two clicks away! Read more…

BMW 6 Series Coupe Concept (Design Critique)

September 25th, 2010 1 comment

There was little doubt that as BMW finished out the millennium with updated 3 and 5 series lineups, that the Bavarian automaker’s design language was beginning to look a bit stale. Rather than introduce yet another attractively conservative redesign, the 2002 7-series turned BMW’s design language from cautiously good looking to garishly daring. The revived 2003 6-series coupe followed closely to the 7’s bold new themes.  Read more…

Automotive Trends PODCAST Episode 11

September 23rd, 2010 No comments

In Episode 11 we try to focus our admittedly short attention spans on the exciting new 2011 models coming from Chrysler plus all the news leaking out ahead of this year’s Paris Auto Show, but along the way we somehow managed to pick up a few trivial topics to keep things unpredictable. Or our ADHD flared up and we’re simply trying to convince you everything discussed during our podcasts is intentional. Either way, did you know Chrysler has marketed three unibody pickups over the years? Well you will learn that and much more if you can focus your attention on the 55 minutes and 4 seconds of auto-related conversation that is available after the jump. Read more…

2012 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback (Preview)

September 4th, 2010 No comments

Not Intended for Retail Sale Within the United States.

Sometimes the automakers will tease us and not mention that little tidbit right away, but no there it was third sentence of the press release “the Cruze hatchback will not be offered in the US market.” It is rather disappointing that yet another beautiful car from the General will not be coming to our shores because the buying public in this country won’t look at anything hatchback or wagon-ish unless it has all-wheel drive and is riding on stilts! And it is beautiful. Read more…

2014 Ford Fusion (Spy Shots)

September 2nd, 2010 No comments

Quick on the draw this afternoon Design Editor Gernand nabbed this shot of what looks like a prototype mule of the Ford Mondeo. What is a Mondeo doing on this side of the pond you may ask? Well, and this is all speculation, but this may just happen to be an early drive mule of what will become the 2014 Ford Fusion / Mondeo. Ford has already stated that the next Fusion / Mondeo will extensively share components in all areas except where specific market regulations demand otherwise. And while Gernand was unable to snap a front end shot, he did say that the front camo seemed to be hiding a Taurus-like nose. Hard to speculate from this angle, and odds are the actual styling for the 2014 model isn’t even close to set. It’s also hard to say what will be under that hood of this car once it comes to fruition in a few model years, but if our money was on the line it would be a pair of 4-cylinders with at least one being an EcoBoost. Ford has already promised to proliferate the EcoBoost tech throughout the line and it makes sense that they would save development dollars and only set up the car for 4-cylinders like what Chevrolet will most likely do with the next Malibu and what Hyundai has already done with the Sonata. Keep your eyes on Automotive Trends and we’ll keep our eyes on the road so you’re up to date on Everything Automotive!
